The Fire Tower Lookout is one point of interest along this route that should not be missed.  Located 8 km northeast of Elliot Lake on the Milliken Mine Road, the Lookout Tower is the highest point in the immediate Elliot Lake area at 1600 feet above sea level.

From the observation deck of this unique structure, visitors can enjoy a 360-degree view of the fall colours extending 35 Kms south to the North Channel of Lake Huron & Manitoulin Island and north to the Penokean Hills.  This unique lookout has proven to be a popular spot for visitors and especially photographers and nature enthusiasts.

The Lester B. Civic Centre houses the Elliot Lake Welcome Centre, Nuclear & Mining Museum, The Canadian Mining Hall of Fame, the 359-seat theatre, and the Gallery space.  Don't forget to check out the Famous Denison Doors at the entrance to the Civic Centre.  They are work of art in themselves.

The Deer Trail Information Centre is located at the junction of Hwy. 17 & Hwy. 108.  The life-sized deer sculptures by the famous Montreal artist Shalom Bloom are definitely worth a look.  For your comfort there are picnic tables, washrooms, a payphone and a playground area for the children.  You will also find a short interpretive walking trail that gives information about the white-tailed deer that inhabit this region. 

The Deer Trail Information Centre is the starting point of the Deer Trail Touring Route that will take you on a stunning 225 km  journey through some of the most beautiful unspoiled landscapes of Northern Ontario.

This triangular route travels through the City of Elliot Lake and north through Mississagi Provincial Park, then turns southwest as it follows the Little White River down to Iron Bridge and then makes its way back east through Blind River, Algoma Mills and Spragge.
