Boland River Hill South View
Entrance to Mississagi
Park
Just a little past Laurentian Lodge, the route will start
to climb up the Boland River Hill. Don't miss the excellent photo
opportunity to view the surrounding autumn colours from the top of this
hill. At the summit , your elevation will be approximately 1,500 feet
above sea level. Flack Lake can clearly be seen to the south in the
distance. When travelling down the other side of this hill - you
will enter the Little White River Valley.
As you travel north, the Deer Trail crosses through
Mississagi Provincial Park.
You will find
solitude and undeveloped wilderness at Mississagi Provincial Park, just 26
Kms north of Elliot Lake. Paddle to remote lakes or hike the numerous trails to
spectacular vistas, especially in autumn. Watch
for fossil evidence of ancient wave action in ripple rock along park trails.
View the metal sculpture of "The Miner"
created by David Hind of White Mountain Academy of the Arts (also a
2002 Deer Trail Studio Tour Artist) commissioned by Dennis & Carole Prodan -
"dedicated to all the mining families who built this beautiful city".
Located on Milliken Mine Road across from the Elliot Lake Veterinary Clinic.
On the way to Country Depot Garden Center.
